This Donation Policy governs all gifts made to DNPN Corporation, a Massachusetts nonprofit corporation ("DNPN"), EIN: 36-5167865. By making a donation, you agree to the terms described below. If you have questions, please contact us at help@dnpn.org.
All donations to DNPN Corporation, a Massachusetts nonprofit corporation ("DNPN"), are entirely voluntary. No goods or services are provided in exchange for a donation unless explicitly stated. By making a donation, you acknowledge that the contribution is a free and voluntary act and that you do not expect any material benefit or quid pro quo in return, except as noted in any applicable disclosure of goods or services provided.
Donations received by DNPN are used to fund direct humanitarian assistance to communities across Cabo Verde affected by disasters and natural phenomena, including clean water access, emergency shelter, medical care, food security, and disaster preparedness training. DNPN is committed to maximizing the impact of every dollar donated by ensuring funds are deployed efficiently and responsibly. We publish an annual impact report detailing how donated funds were allocated and what outcomes were achieved.
Donors may designate gifts as restricted or unrestricted. Unrestricted gifts provide DNPN with the greatest flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most and are the preferred form of giving. Restricted gifts are designated by the donor for a specific program, geographic area, or purpose (e.g., clean water projects on Santo Antão). DNPN will honor all donor restrictions to the extent they are administratively feasible and consistent with our mission. If a restriction cannot be fulfilled — for example, because a specific program has already been fully funded — DNPN will contact the donor to discuss an appropriate alternative use of the gift.
A portion of every donation may be used to cover organizational overhead and administrative costs, including technology, communications, staff, and regulatory compliance. DNPN is committed to maintaining an efficient administrative cost ratio consistent with best practices for non-profit organizations. We target administrative expenses at no more than 15% of total revenue, with at least 85% of funds directed toward direct program activities. Our financial statements are available upon request and are filed publicly with the IRS as Form 990.
During active disaster responses, DNPN may issue emergency fundraising appeals. Funds raised through emergency appeals are directed as specifically as operationally possible to the declared emergency. In the event that donations exceed the immediate need for a specific emergency, excess funds will be placed in DNPN's general disaster relief reserve, which is used for future emergency responses. Donors who wish their gift redirected in such circumstances should contact us within 30 days of the original donation.
DNPN will issue an electronic receipt to all donors who provide a valid email address at the time of donation. Receipts are sent automatically via email within 24 hours of a successfully processed donation. The receipt will include your name (or "Anonymous" if you elected to donate anonymously), the donation amount, the date of the gift, and a statement confirming that no goods or services were provided in exchange. Please retain this receipt for your tax records. If you do not receive a receipt, please contact help@dnpn.org.
DNPN is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN: 36-5167865). Donations to DNPN are generally tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. For donations of $250 or more, your receipt will serve as your written acknowledgment as required by the IRS. Donors are responsible for determining the deductibility of their contributions based on their individual tax situation. DNPN recommends consulting a qualified tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your gift. DNPN does not provide tax advice.
Please see our Donation Refund Policy page for complete details. In summary, DNPN may issue refunds for documented duplicate charges, transactions resulting from fraud, or verifiable technical errors in payment processing. Refunds are not issued solely because a donor has changed their mind after a transaction is completed. Refund requests must be submitted to help@dnpn.org within 30 days of the original transaction. All refund decisions are at the sole discretion of DNPN's leadership.
